This guitar is a wonderful, time capsule, 1959 Gibson Les Paul Custom. This “Black Beauty” is all original and will be professionally packed with care and ship with its original “cobblestone” case.
This rock legend sports three classic PAF (Patent Applied For) pickups. Two are double whites and one is a zebra. The bridge pickup reads 8.26 k ohms, the neck pickup reads 7.78 k ohms…both measured at the output jack…the middle pickup measures 8.35 k ohms measured at the pickup selector switch.
This guitar was very well kept and well loved. It comes complete with its guarantee card, “PAF humbucking pickup adjustments” instructions, “Tune-O-Matic Bridge” instructions, yellow Gibson Les Paul hang tag, and case key in its original envelope. The guitar weighs in at 9 lbs 4 oz.
The 1959 Les Paul Custom has the one piece mahogany body. It also has its original Grover Rotomatic tuners which work as intended. Of course all of the hardware on this guitar is gold plated and is in pretty nice condition considering this baby is 50 years old!
The neck! Wow, this one is just about perfect. The ebony finger board is in wonderful condition. It is what was called a “Fretless Wonder”. That means that the frets were low to enable you to play really fast jazz riffs. Don’t tell that to Peter Frampton who made these guitars so famous and an integral part of his extensive rock portfolio. The frets are in great shape and still have plenty of play time left on them. The neck is straight and the truss rod works as was intended.
