The serial number for this 1957 Fender Stratocaster in a two-tone sunburst may be -178XX but this is quite positively a great guitar. As original as they come, this iconic guitar was truly a find.

The maple neck on this guitar is a very soft “v”…plays like a monster…fits in your hand like you were born with it. The neck is dated 6/57. The tuning machines and truss rod work as intended. Although there is some fret wear, there is certainly plenty of playing left in her. Whoever owned this guitar originally really must have loved her…she was well cared for.
I won’t try to tell you that this ’57 hasn’t gotten a few little battle scars, a nick or two, and some scratches along the way, but overall the two-tone sunburst finish is in very nice condition. There is very little belt buckle rash on the back. The pickguard, trem cavity cover, knobs, and switch tip are all original, as are the bridge, trem block, bridge cover and trem arm. The trem arm has been shortened. The body (like the neck) is dated 6/57. The guitar weighs in at 7 ½ lbs.

The sound comin’ out of this guitar is just something special…this is one of those rare ones that sounds great even when she’s not plugged in. I know I can’t properly convey that here. What I can tell you is that the three pickups read 5.88 k ohms for the bridge pickup, 6.08 k ohms for the middle pickup, and 5.45 k ohms for the neck pickup, all measured at the output jack. The two potentiometer codes we can read are the 48th week of 1957 and the one that is obscured we can see an 8.

This 1957 Stratocaster comes with its own beautiful and original tweed case with the red lining. As always, it will be professionally packed with care.
