We purchased
this 1956 Fender two-tone Sunburst Precision Bass beauty from its
original owner. She bought it new when she was 27 years old. Believe
it or not, she is still gigging, but this bass was getting to be a
little too much for her to handle.
It is all original. This 54 year old works perfectly too...electronics,
tuners, truss rod, all work as Leo intended them to. The frets are
in fantastic shape as this instrument has had flat wound strings on
her her whole life (and still does).
This bass weighs in at 8 lbs 4.4 oz. The black staggered pole single
coil pickup measures 6.24 k ohms at the output jack. The potentiometer
codes read 10th week of 1956. The bass ships in a generic hard shell
case. The owner told us that the original gig bag had ripped, so she
threw it out….oh well. There’s not much more to say…this
is the real thing for a player or collector that wants the electric
bass with the sound that started it all!
